When it’s time to get that school paper written, an article finished for work, or you just feel the urge to write, where do you go? Creativity can be triggered anywhere but here are some of the best places to get your words out of your head and onto a page.
- At the Park
Whether you are on a fishing break by the water or sitting on the grass under a huge fir tree, being in nature is inspiring. Some of your best work can come from watching people around you and tuning into the sounds of the animals in their natural habitat.
You might be stuck on what type of character to introduce while writing your novel when suddenly a snake slithers by giving you a descriptive idea for your role reversal protagonist. Maybe you are trying to write a paper on people’s behaviours. Watching those around you will give you many examples for your written work because you are getting real-life experience on your topic.
The park is an open space for you to get wild with your writing.
2. At a Café
A café is a perfect spot to hone-in on your writing skills. Cozy corners and quaint patios have just the right buzz to help you relax a little while still being able to hear all the thoughts in your head. Background music might give your writing a chill vibe or the lyrics may spark an idea worth developing.
Much like sitting in a park, you can watch the interactions of the people around you to draw inspiration for whatever it is you are writing about.
Do you need a writing break? Take a sip of your café au lait, take a deep breath and feel the caffeine kick in, giving you the energy to write once again.
3. Your Balcony or Patio
If you are lucky enough to have an outdoor seating area at your home, then you might just have that space you’ve been searching for on your writer’s journey. Are you the kind of writer that needs a bit of structure to get the words flowing from your head to the ink in your pen? Being at home is comfortable yet quiet so you can think up ideas without being interrupted.
Do you have a table and chair outside? Sitting at a spot like this allows you to feel more like you are really getting down to work with the similar structure of an office setting. Separating your regular living space from your workspace will make you feel like really getting down to it without wasting a moment.
Creativity comes at different times for everyone and is sparked by many unique atmospheres. Picking a place that allows you to draw from a variety of inspirations is key to writing creatively.
Embrace change so your story goes to the places you have been. When you spice up the location where you write, you spark a new sense of creativity in yourself.
